Health Department To Offer H1N1 Flu Shots Tuesday November 3rd
Continues to Offer Doses of H1N1 FluMist Nasal Vaccine
The Metro Public Health Department will offer 1,000 doses H1N1 influenza injectable vaccine beginning Tuesday, November 3rd.
The Health Department’s free H1N1 FluMist and H1N1 flu shot walk-in clinic, located at 311 23rd Ave. North, will be open from 7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (as long as supplies last). The Health Department is limiting the H1N1 flu shot vaccine to the following at risk groups:
- Pregnant women
- Caregivers and household contacts of infants under six months,
- Children six months to four years of age, and
- Children 5 – 18 years of age who have medical conditions, such as asthma, that put them at higher risk of influenza-related complications.
The Health Department continues to offer free H1N1 FluMist nasal spray vaccine. The FluMist is only offered to those ages 2 – 49 years of age, without underlying health conditions, and not pregnant.
No shortage of H1N1 vaccine is expected. However, limited quantities and types of the vaccine come in with each shipment. Health officials will expand access to the H1N1 injectable vaccine in the coming weeks and months to every Metro Nashville Public School and at community flu shot clinics.
The Health Department could potentially receive more than 130,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine in the coming weeks and months.
