H1N1 Flu Vaccine Update

Health Department Offers Doses of H1N1 FluMist Nasal Vaccine
Out of H1N1 Injectable Vaccine

NASHVILLE, Tenn., November 4, 2009 -- The Metro Public Health Department is currently out of H1N1 influenza injectable vaccine.

The Health Department will offer only the free H1N1 FluMist at its walk-in clinic, located at 311 23rd Ave. North, from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 5 and Friday, November 6. The FluMist is only offered to those ages 2 – 49 years of age, without underlying health conditions, and not pregnant.

The Health Department receives limited quantities and types of the vaccine come in with each shipment.  Health officials will expand access to the H1N1 injectable vaccine in the coming weeks and months to every Metro Nashville Public School and at community flu shot clinics.

The Health Department could potentially receive more than 130,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine in the coming weeks and months.
